Works great—use it over the garbage can or compost bin
This is a terrific gadget that makes taking k-cups apart a breeze. Only tip: the grounds and filter are hard to control once the pod is opened, so it’s best to use the Kut a Pod over a garbage can or compost bin. That way, the grounds and filter drop right in and you’re left with a pretty clean cup to rinse and recycle.
The product is well designed and rugged. It certainly speeds up the process of recycling. Interesting that some components appear to be 3D printed. If the blade was 2-3mm (1/16-3/32 in) farther away from the pod's lip, it would cut the paper filter as well and the cup on Costco pods.
This device has worked much better than previous cutters I have tried. With this unit, I can even remove the foil lid on the K pod to recycle and use the coffee grounds for my compost. Then I use the cutter to remove the ring any filter left remaining. And I really love the fact the blades are replaceable, instead of replacing the entire unit as with other cutters. Definitely would recommend this product!!
I have never used any other k kup recycling tool but no reason to now this thing works great very simple and fast I used to recycle them by tearing them apart with my hands never again there is no short comings to this tool.
