No. The biggest problem for recycling is contamination. The coffee grounds and paper filter cause contamination and are not recyclable. They must be removed in order to recycle the remaining plastic and foil. Placing coffee grounds in the recycle bin actually contaminates all other recyclable items in the bin.
Yes. The Kut-A-Pod has a variable cutting depth which allows you to cut and separate all K-Cup® style single serve pods from different manufacturers. Each manufacturers’ pods vary slightly in thickness of plastic. With using the cutter, you will discover the correct depth for cutting your favorite brand of pods.
Yes. Just push the thumb piece on the tool all the way forward.
No. You keep the tool and just replace the blade cartridge, eliminating extra plastic waste.
You may not have pushed the thumb piece quite far enough for your type pod. Simply push the thumb piece forward a little further and complete another rotation until the cup separates.
You can compost the coffee grounds and paper filter, or throw away the entire top of the pod with the filter still attached. Either way, the grounds and filter can now decompose as they are no longer enclosed in plastic.
